Tsamba (aka Tsampa) — first food of the Tibetans
Tsamba is well ingrained in ancient lore and everyday life in Tibetan culture. Tsampa refers to roast whole-grain barley flour.
These heirloom Purple Karma Barley flour-based snacks are blended with premium cacao powder (an heirloom of the Forastero bean), dark chocolate chips, cacao nibs and Medjool dates, resulting in a nutty, toasty and rich dark chocolate flavor and delightful crunch.
Vegan-friendly and free of added sugar, these Tsamba Truffles are perfect for a convenient on-the-go snacking or healthy dessert.
Unique in character – purplish color (a type of antioxidant), Purple Karma Barley is superbly high in fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals and low in glycemic index linked to regulating high blood sugar and diabetes.
Oregon-grown Purple Karma Barley – an American brought this heirloom barley from Tibet in 1924 and saved it in the USDA seed bank until it was rediscovered recently. We feel fortunate to source this heirloom locally, an eco-friendly non-GMO crop.
