Tsamba or tsampa is a type of flour made from ground, roasted barley, which has sustained Tibetans for over a thousand years. We use the heirloom Tibetan Purple Barley variety, now grown in the USA.
Tsampa is a beloved staple in the Tibetan diet and is enjoyed many ways. It's a common breakfast for Tibetans, including the Dalai Lama.
The Guardian once described it as the "Breakfast of champions: the Dalai Lama's tsampa."
Our decadent Tsamba Balls are lightly sweetened with natural dates from a Regenerative Farmer in California. They offer a combination of nutty, toasty, and chocolatey flavors with a coffee undertone.
Unique in character – purplish color (a type of antioxidant), Purple Karma Barley is superbly high in fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals and has a low glycemic index (30).

FUN FACTS
An American brought this heirloom purple barley from Tibet in 1924 and saved the seeds in the USDA seed bank until recent years. We feel fortunate to source this heirloom, climate-resilient crop locally in Oregon.

These Tsamba Balls are so tasty and nutritious! I love them! I made a trial order of 1 package, out of curiosity, after my contact with a Tibetan lama, and, after 1 taste, I ordered 3 more packages to have them on hand to supplement my diet and as treats! I stopped eating candy ages ago. But these, while low in sugar, are just like candy to my taste. The blend of ingredients is just perfect!
It's so great to enjoy a treat like this that is nutritious, delicious and locally made.
The tsamba balls are just sweet enough to please my sweet tooth, and they're nutrient dense. I keep these on hand for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon pick-me-up of calories that don't require me to put forth any effort and can get back to work quickly when I'm in a flow state.

These are my favorite Tsamba balls. Taste, texture, and fiber. I cheated and added some powdered sugar right into the bag to add more sweetness since I'm on a hummingbird (sugar) diet. :)
